My little boy said...

He woke up. Prayed fajr and made his usual Duas. When we later tried taking a nap, something washed away his sleep. I listened to his words and explanations silently - for sometimes we should let our children speak without interrupting. He misses his uncle and aunt. He told me how good it would be if they never left India. We are now a small family. At last both of us were on the same track - he agreed that we are walking towards Jannah and there all of us will be happy together.

As always, I tried telling him that human beings are not always bad. Circumstances turn them into who they are. So, when we pray we should ask Allaah to guide us to good always. He was silent. Completed his morning routine and laughed a lot and concentrated more to make me smile as usual 😊

While leaving him at the school gate I told him to do well in the exam. My little boy caught my hand and told me, “See I was sad yesterday. So circumstances could have been that I didn’t study for my exam. Maybe you would understand that I couldn’t concentrate and so didn’t study and so my marks are low. But if I had not studied the result would not be the same. Even if I am not a bad student, if I don’t study I won’t get good marks.”  I was a little puzzled. Tried telling him that his marks never mattered to me. It’s Allaah’s Grace that he does well in his studies, even if he didn’t I would love him the same. He was not listening. He continued, “Umma, people are never good or bad. But it is our responsibility that we don’t become bad. That is why Allaah has made punishment for the bad and rewards for the good.”

With this my boy kissed me and went to his class. He left me amazed and bewildered with his words. At the age of 8, I feel he understands much more than I do. I learnt a lesson today. No matter what we believe, we can’t force someone else, especially a child, to believe that. He will grow up with his own opinion of things.

Allahumma baarik feehu - smart kid.

I am nobody, but a stranger, only a simple wayfarer,
My journey is this life till I reach the Hereafter..
Traveling all along the footsteps of my Teacher
,
For I have to, in time, reach the destination promised by MY
SUSTAINER...
