Decorate the House of Solitude

A cousin who met me only days ago, succumbed to dengue fever. A girl of 15 - happy, healthy, full of energy and intellect. It is hard to believe that we lost her to a sudden sickness! Her parents and siblings would never be able to forget her. When His decision makes us happy, we immediately say “Alhamdulillaah”. But when such a loss occurs then, often the tongues speak “Why did you do this Ya Allaah?!”

Only Allaah knows the wisdom behind His decrees. There are certain endings which never have explanation to why they ended. I beg Allaah to make easy the life that follows for her, expand the grave for her, open a window to Paradise in her grave and build a beautiful mansion for my cousin in Jannah and bless her with an eternal life which would not be possible in this world. (Ameen)

The world is so tempting and deceiving that it completely dissolves a person into its ocean of illusion. Death is the last thing that usually comes to mind. It is very unfortunate that we get so busy decorating our temporary houses that we forget our eternal abode!

The Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said “Increase in remembrance of death, the severer of pleasures. For indeed there is no day that comes upon the grave except that it speaks, saying: "I am thee house of the estranged, I am the house of the solitude, I am the house of dust, and I am the house of the worm-eaten." When the believing worshipper is buried, the grave says to him: "Welcome, make yourself comfortable. Indeed, to me, you are the most beloved of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today, you shall see what I have arranged for you." It will then widen for him so that his sight extends, and the door to Paradise is opened for him. And when the wicked worshipper or the disbeliever is buried , the grave says to him: "You are not welcome, do not get comfortable. Indeed, to me, you are the most hated of those who walked upon me. Since you have been entrusted to me and delivered to me today, you shall see what I have arranged for you.'" He said: 'It will begin closing in on him (squeezing him) until his ribs are crushing each other.'" He said: " The Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) clasped some of his fingers between others and said: 'Seventy giant serpents will constrict him, if even one of them were to hiss on the earth, nothing upon it would grow as long as it remained. They will chew on him and bite him until he is brought to the Reckoning.'" He said: " The Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said: 'The grave is but a garden from the gardens of Paradise, or a pit from the pits of the Fire."

Death is the ultimate destroyer of pleasures! All and everything would come to an end and nobody would be able to postpone the sudden departure from this land of their dreams! The angel of death would be the first super power that our eyes would see - but then we will not be given a chance to continue or modify our lives. Successful would be only those who learn to believe in the unseen presence of the ONE SUPER POWER and spend their lives in complete submission to His commands.

It is not easy. But, every new morning is an opportunity to seek forgiveness and excel in doing good. Every new morning is an opportunity to shed our sins and rectify our mistakes. Every new morning is an opportunity to add to the scales of good deeds. This morning might be the last one you witnessed while above the ground. Be selfish in the right way. Use this day truly for yourself. Make use of it to restart your life - only few moments of repentance and sincerity are needed to decorate the “House of Solitude” - nobody on this earth will ever share it with you! So, be wise and make it comfortable for yourself. Invest your time in preparing for the Hereafter, for your life here is only a journey. Do not be fooled into making this world your everything, while you have saved nothing for the actual real eternal life!

To HIM we belong and to HIM is our return! May Allaah give Hidaaya to all of us, help us increase in piety and cause us to return to Him when He is truly pleased with us (Ameen)

I am nobody, but a stranger, only a simple wayfarer,
My journey is this life till I reach the Hereafter..
Traveling all along the footsteps of my Teacher
,
For I have to, in time, reach the destination promised by MY
SUSTAINER...
